Greece has issued as series of commemorative stamps featuring the synagogues of Greece. The six stamps of the series are illustrated with images of the interiors of the historic synagogues of Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Trikala, Ioannina, and Rhodes, while the two first day cover envelopes present the synagogues of Corfu and Chania.
The stamps went into circulation on April 18 and were presented at an event organized by the Hellenic Post (ELTA) and the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS).
The images on the stamps are not photographs, but illustrations by the painter and engraver Myrsini Vardopoulou.

Many countries have issued stamps illustrated by historic synagogues. We have posted, for example, about synagogue stamps issued by Serbia, Romania, and Hungary.
