Interested in the architecture, art, and history of synagogues? Take a look at “Buildings, Places and Spaces,” a series of illustrated, half-hour video talks by JHE friend Dr. Samuel D. Gruber, an art and architectural historian and an acknowledged expert on synagogues.
He is currently halfway through the series of 10 talks prepared for the Orange County, California Community Scholar Program. Each talk focuses on one specific synagogue — of the first five, three are in Europe and two in the U.S.
You can see the full series HERE on YouTube. New talks are posted roughly every month.
We embed here the first three talks on synagogues in Europe: Siena, Italy; Ioannina, Greece; and Boskovice, Czech Republic.
SIENA, ITALY
IOANNINA, GREECE
BOSKOVICE, CZECH REPUBLIC

Thank you for sharing these. There will be five more visits in this first series, including some other Jewish places and spaces. It is always hard to choose which place to include next!
