Mazel tov to the 13 projects that have been awarded modest grants from the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland. Several of them will support Jewish built heritage projects around the country.
The winners were chosen from 35 applicants. Total grants for all 13 projects amounted to 128,000 zloty (around €30,000).
The grants involving built heritage include:
Zapomniane Foundation for the project “Reference points. Co-creation of wooden matzevot with the local community”, subsidy amount: PLN 11,500
Chmielnik Cultural Center for the project “Cleaning matzevot and tidying up the greenery of the new Jewish cemetery in Chmielnik”, subsidy amount: PLN 10,800
Foundation for the Documentation of Jewish Cemeteries for the project “Database of tombstone inscriptions in Jewish cemeteries in Żabno, Szczucin, Dąbrowa Tarnowska, Staszów, Bodzentyn, Mielec, Wiślica, Busko, Pińczów, Chmielnik, Szydłów, Opatów, Sobków and Iwaniska”, funding amount: PLN 10,000
Municipal Public Library of Fr. Anna Jabłonowska in Siemiatycze for the project “History written on tiles”, funding amount: PLN 10,900
The Max Kopfstein Association for the project “Memory of a place – memory of a place. 150th anniversary of the founding of the Chorzów synagogue”, funding amount: PLN 9,600

Municipal Cultural Center in Płońsk for the project “Jewish photo workshops in Płońsk – a series of cultural events”, subsidy amount: PLN 10,100
Wałeckie Cultural Center for the project “Save from oblivion – Jewish Culture Days, 3rd edition”, funding amount: PLN 12,000
Second Generation Association – Descendants of Holocaust Survivors for the project “Stolperstein Installation (Stones of Memory)”, funding amount: PLN 12,000
Opole Puppet and Actor Theater Alojzy Smolka for the project “Every day I feel sorry”, funding amount: PLN 12,000
Grójec Association of Board Games and Fantasy GROFAN for the project “Tanks of the desert – reconstruction of armored battles in defense of Israel in 1956-1973”, amount of funding: PLN 7,410
ZHP Chorągiew Wlkp. Troop Trzcianka for the project “In the footsteps of the local and scout history of the Jewish community”, funding amount: PLN 3,170
Banina Foundation for the project “Show of the play Holocaust and workshops for adults”, funding amount: PLN 7,000
The Grants Program of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland is aimed at local activists who involve their communities in their projects. It supports cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations registered in Poland, operating within the present and historical borders of Poland, whose goal is to preserve the memory of Jewish history and culture in this part of Europe, and to protect Jewish heritage.
