Learn about the Jewish heritage in the Bas Rhin Department of Alsace, France, with new, easily consultable resources on the web pages of the Bas Rhin Jewish Consistory’s Culture and Heritage section — which manages more than 45 cemeteries and 27 synagogues.
Under the leadership of director Yoav Rossano, Culture and Heritage is posting a series of “episodes” that systematically summarise the Jewish heritage according to their general geographic location in the Bas Rhin. The articles were initially published in the magazine Echos&Unir and are presented as PDFs that can be downloaded or consulted online.
The material (in French) is aimed at tourists and other visitors who want to “discover or rediscover” Jewish heritage in the region and will form a sort of travel guide.
On the live web page, you can click the buttons to find pages with pictures, and basic history, and other information for individual heritage sites — synagogues, Jewish cemeteries, Jewish museums, etc — including contact details and web sites for individual places.
