Here’s our regular list of (some of the) locally organized guided tours and other Jewish heritage tourism events in the coming week. If you’re at or near one of these places take advantage!
Nighttime guided tour of the former city’s Jewish Ghetto. The tour is organized by the Bologna Jewish Museum and will be held in Italian. The tour is conducted by Cesare Barbieri, from the education department of the Bologna Jewish Museum. Time: 9 PM. Cost: €7. Reservation required.
Thann, France – August 25 and 27
Guided tour of the city’s synagogue. Time: 3 PM. Duration: 1.5 hours. Maximum 9 participants. Reservation in advance required, compulsory wearing a mask.

Florence, Italy – August 25, 27, and 30

The Jewish Museum of Lecce organizes an evening guided tour of the museum (7.30 PM), a harp concert by musician Eleonora Carbone (8.00 PM), and a kosher wine tasting. Cost: €12. Reservation required at: [email protected]
Eisenstadt, Austria – August 26
Guided tour of the Eisenstadt former Jewish quarter and Jewish cemetery, organized by the Austrian Jewish Museum. Cost: €3. Time: 11 AM.

Guided walk around the New Jewish cemetery, with a discussion of funeral traditions and gravestone symbolism, organized by the Jewish Museum branch of the City Museum. The group is limited to 16 people. Time: 10 AM. Duration: 1.5 hours
Stockholm, Sweden – August 26 and 30
Guided tour around the city’s Jewish heritage sites. This tour will take place every Thursday and Sunday at 2 PM until September. Duration: 1 hour. Cost: 140/120 Swedish crowns. Booking required.
The latest edition of the weekly Balagan Café weekly mini-festival in the garden of the Florence synagogue. The action starts at 7 p.m.
Eisenstadt, Austria – August 27
Guided tour for kids of the city’s synagogue. Time: 11 AM. Cost: €2.
Carpentras, France – August 27

Guided tour of the Carpentras synagogue, organized by the Tourism Information Bureau. Booking in advance required. Cost: €10. Time: 9.30 AM and 11.00 AM. (The synagogue welcomes visitors otherwise, Monday-Friday, with 15 visitors allowed in every hour.)
Every Thursday until September the Pesaro Municipality is organizing guided tours at the city’s Jewish cemetery. Time: 6 PM. Duration: 1 hour. Info and bookings: +39 348 7751596.
Zduńska Wola, Poland – August 29 and 30
Open days at the city’s Jewish cemetery. On August 29, at 4 PM, an outdoor exhibition by photographer Rafal Sosnowski will be inaugurated. On August 30, from 2 PM to 6 PM, the Jewish cemetery will be opened for autonomous visits.
Girona, Spain – August 29 and 30

Guided tour at the Hohenems Jewish quarter, organized by the city’s Jewish Museum. The tour includes a vegetarian bagel lunch at the museum cafe and a visit to the museum. Time: from 11.00 to 12.30 AM. Cost: €18: includes museum ticket, tour, and lunch.
Copenhagen, Denmark – August 29
Because of the pandemic, the usual guided tours in English of the Danish Jewish Museum are suspended. However, every Saturday the Museum organizes an „ask to the staff” day, during which visitors can ask everything related to Jewish life and history in Denmark. Time: 10.30 AM to 4.30 PM.
The 17th annual Singer’s Warsaw Jewish Culture Festival – a range of concerts, performances, and other events; some on-site and some online.
Casale Monferrato, Italy – August 30

Reopening of the city’s synagogue after a short summer closure for maintenance and restoration works. Guided tours on prior reservation.
Walking tour around the Muranów district through the eyes of a district’s guide and inhabitant. The tour is organized by POLIN – The Museum of the History of Polish Jews. It accompanies the museum’s current temporary exhibition on Muranów, the former downtown Jewish quarter and site of the WW II Jewish ghetto. Time: 2.30 PM. Duration: 1.5 hours. Cost: 20/15/1 zloty.
Every Sunday, the Jewish Museum of Trondheim organizes guided tours to the museum. Time: 1 PM. Cost: 70 Norwegian Crowns.
Frankfurt, Germany – August 30
Guided tour of the Old Jewish Cemetery. Time: 15:30. Cost: €10
