We are pleased to forward this call for papers for the annual conference of the Association for Gravestone Studies, which will be held June 21-26, 2016 at Xavier College, Cincinnati, Ohio.
The AGS is a U.S.-based international organization with an interest in gravemarkers of all periods and styles. The conference — and the Association — deal with preservation, theft and other issues that are highly relevant for those involved in Jewish cemetery work in Europe, and its web site has valuable resources. Its main focus is on cemeteries in the U.S., and Jewish cemeteries are a somewhat neglected topic overall, so papers on European Jewish cemetery issues could make a valuable addition to the conference.
