The historic Deane Road Jewish cemetery in Liverpool, UK, has undergone a strange form of vandalism that frankly we have not been aware of before — someone stole grass turf from atop a number of graves.
Aaron Cole in the Liverpool Echo reports
The theft at Deane Road Jewish Cemetery in Kensington prompted volunteers to issue a cry for help to replace the turf.
That call was heard by Topsoil Supplies, in Bootle , who have donated a large amount of replacement grass for the historic cemetery.
In operation between 1837 and 1920s, the cemetery was restored in 2012, thanks to support from the Kensington Regeneration Initiative (KRI) and nearly half a million pounds of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
