Yesterday we reported on plans to restore the ruined 17th century fortress synagogue in Bykhov, Belarus, and install there a Jewish museum.
Sergey Kravtsov, of the Center for Jewish Art, has shared with us two striking images from a computer-aided reconstruction of that synagogue he produced in 1998.

The synagogue is believed to have been out of use already before 1939.

The restoration of this wonderful historic synagogue is welcome news for the world let alone the Jewish/wider community of Belarus.
It is unique and will eventually take its place as one of the national treasures of Belarus and a symbol of its spiritual life and heritage.
