
If you’re interested in the vast Okopowa st Jewish cemetery in Warsaw, which is undergoing constant clean-up and renovation work, make sure you register and tune in on Wednesday (Oct. 27) for the Zoom in on the Forum session with Witold Wrzosinski, the cemetery’s director.

He will virtually walk viewers through what is one of the biggest Jewish cemeteries in Europe. Founded in 1806, and located at 49/51 Okopowa Street in Warsaw, it houses 250,000 graves on more than 33 hectares of land. Witold will discuss the uniqueness and the importance of the Cemetery for the heritage and identity of Warsaw Jewish community.
The session will be on Wednesday, October 27, at 3 am Australian Eastern, 10 am Pacific, 12 pm Central, 1 pm Eastern, 7 pm Warsaw, 8 pm Tel-Aviv time.

Witold Wrzosinski has a degree in Jewish Studies and for years has been working as a tour guide and a genealogist. He created and managed the Foundation for Documentation of Jewish Cemeteries in Poland, which created a database of more than 100,000 tombstones from 90 cemeteries in Poland. Author of various genealogical and academic publications on Polish/Jewish history and heritage. He has served as the director of Jewish Cemetery on Okopowa since March 2020.
