Got some time on your hands and you don’t just want to scroll? Why not play an online jigsaw puzzle — of a synagogue!
The web site www.jigsawplanet.com has a collection of hundreds of puzzles based on pictures of synagogues world wide. (They come under a user called colinmicheal.)
The puzzles are played the same way jigsaw puzzles are played physically on tables — putting together irregularly shaped pieces to create a picture — but in these puzzles you move the pieces online.
You can even choose how difficult you want to the puzzle to be by choosing the number of pieces.
Here’s the link to the collection — where you can also see the pictures of the synagogues. (Most are of the exterior of the buildings, and there is no information as to the source of the photos used.)
Below, here’s a sample puzzle — it forms a picture of the monumental New Synagogue in Szeged, Hungary, the masterpiece of the architect Lipot Baumhorn. Click the picture or ghost button at the bottom left to see the picture that the puzzle forms.
