The annual European Days of Jewish Culture (EDJC) kicked off on Sunday (September 7), with events in more than two dozen countries across Europe planned to take place well into November.
This year’s umbrella theme is People of the Book. Coincidentally, this year marks the 60th anniversary of The Littman Library of Jewish Civilization — and to celebrate, Liverpool University Press (partner hone of the Littman Library publications) has announced a 30 percent discount on its books, using the code 27EDJC at checkout on the Liverpool University Press web site until the end of October:
Since its first publication in 1965, Littman has brought more than 250 works of Jewish scholarship to readers worldwide, spanning history, philosophy, religion, literature, and culture – an enduring contribution to Jewish learning that embodies the spirit of the EDJC.
To celebrate both the anniversary and this year’s EDJC theme, we are sharing a special reading list, alongside a 30% discount on all Littman titles from the 8th September to the 31st October.
Many Littman classics are now available in paperback – and are included in the 30% discount.

The EDJC put together a selected reading list of books on Jewish culture, but that only scratches the surface. The Litmann Library has published a number of books that deal with Jewish built heritage or aspects of it, and also publishes the ongoing journal series POLIN.
Founded by Louis Littman in memory of his father to explore, explain, and perpetuate the Jewish heritage, the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization published its first book in 1965. Today it is regarded as one of the world’s leading publishers in the field of Jewish studies. Its books are renowned for their thorough editing and elegant design, making it the publisher of choice for many distinguished scholars. Since 2017, Littman’s partnership with Liverpool University Press has facilitated its electronic publishing and amplified its marketing reach.
