We are pleased to share this Call for Applications for grants to NGOs to preserve and document historic cemeteries (including Jewish cemeteries) in the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodships in the southeast corner of Poland on the border with Ukraine. Deadline for applications is August 25.
The aim of the project, which is financed by the National Institute of Freedom – Centre for the Development of Civil Society, as part of the “Pamięęć Polimits Initiative 2025”, is to support “initiatives aimed at protecting, documenting and disseminating the historical and cultural heritage of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland.”
The grants, the Call said, are for local NGOs and “will be presented to aid the ordering and inventory of cemeteries of various faiths and nationalities and to educational activities concerning the history and multiculturalism of the region. Organizations will be provided with substantive support – training on planning and implementation of projects, rules for documenting cemeteries, inventory, working with volunteers.”
The result of the project, it said, “will be ordering and inventorying of at least 50 cemeteries, development of NGO competences, increase of awareness of the heritage of the region, activation of residents and the creation of educational materials and a digital documentation database.”
The total amount of grants will be PLN 550 000, or around 130,000. NGOs in the target area can apply for grants between PLN 6,000 and 25,000 (around €1400 and €5800).
