This is an UPDATED call for participants for “History, Memory and Responsibility,” an English-language seminar for journalists to be held at the Auschwitz Memorial Museum and in the town of Oświęcim (outside of which the Auschwitz camp was built).
The dates have been changed — the Seminar now takes place October 7-10, 2024. (Oct 7 & 10 are the arrival and departure days).
The seminar will include both a historical part with an in-depth study visit of the former German Nazi camp (including spaces closed for visitors), lectures and discussions as well as visits to different parts of the Museum (Collections and Conservation), meeting with the director of the Museum before the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and visiting the Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oświęcim.
Before WW2 Oświęcim had a majority Jewish population and traces of its Jewish heritage remain — including the Jewish cemetery, memorials, and the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation (AJCF) complex that includes the sole surviving synagogue and a museum on local Jewish history.

On October 10 the journalists will also have an opportunity to visit an exhibition of artworks made by Auschwitz Survivor Marian Kołodziej as well as The Remembrance Museum of Land of Oświęcim Residents.

The cost of the seminar and accommodation are fully covered by the Museum (participants must cover the cost of travel and insurance).
Journalists interested in participating in the seminar should fill in the registration form, including a description of how participation in the seminar will help in their work, by September 19, 2024.
