Hidden Treasures is seeking someone with experience managing content for galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAM) or an interest in heritage who can create engaging social media content and help shape and maintain the social media and web presence for Hidden Treasures.
The Social Media Manager will plan, create and schedule engaging content across all its social media channels to highlight the Jewish material held by the Hidden Treasures members in their collections. They are looking for someone who is self-motivated, with an interest in historical material, a creative flair and can ensure Hidden Treasures is a visible presence within the field of Jewish archives.
Hidden Treasures is a celebration of British Jewish archives that tell the story of Jews in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man over the past thousand years. We support UK-based archives and archivists working with Jewish material and our website showcases the archives and their material. Hidden Treasures is managed by the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe. (RFHE)
The Social Media Manager will report to the RFHE’s Communications and Grants Manager.
Job overview:
- Manage Hidden Treasure’s social media accounts keeping them vibrant and relevant.
- Create and post content about Jewish material held by UK archives.
- Engage with archive network members online and repost relevant content.
- Maintain the Hidden Treasures website and suggest improvements, create and edit content for archive pages, additional treasures and blog posts.
- Help shape communications sent to the Hidden Treasure’s archive network.
- On occasion, visit an archive to collect material and write a feature for Collection Encounters.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in social media management and/or digital communications.
- Passion for creating engaging content for GLAM sector.
- Knowledge or strong interest in Jewish heritage.
- Proactive and highly organised, with strong attention to detail and high standard of literacy.
- Graphic design and video editing skills.
- Experience in supporting websites and SEO including WordPress.
- Proficiency in using software including Microsoft Office packages, Mailchimp, Loomly etc.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms including Meta Business Suite, X, TikTok etc.
