The Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe is now accepting applications for its Spring 2023 grant round — including some new funding opportunities that should interest our readers.
The new European Jewish Heritage grant programme is open to applications from a wide range of institutions and organisations across Europe that hold collections relating to Jewish heritage, history, and culture.
The Foundation has also broadened its funding for professional development opportunities in both the Jewish Communal Life and European Jewish Heritage programmes.
Each grant has detailed guidance to help you complete your application online — click the links for full details.
If you’re planning on re-submitting an application for a project that was not approved previously, please get in touch with the grant programme manager before re-applying.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a two-stage application process for some of the grants and others require you to contact the Foundation to discuss your proposal before applying. Please read the application guidance carefully to ensure you submit your application by the appropriate deadline.
ALSO NOTE: an invitation to submit a second stage application form does not guarantee funding.
European Jewish Heritage grants
The Foundations provides funding to institutions and organisations across Europe holding materials, records, books and objects relating to the Jewish experience throughout history.
Whether you’re a museum, archive, library, university, communal organisation or professional institution, funding is available to help you care for your collections and create engaging exhibitions.
NOTE: Collections Management and Exhibition Support are a two-stage application process.
The first-stage must be submitted by Friday 17 February 2023.
(If you are invited to submit a second-stage application this is due by Tuesday 18 April 2023.)

Collections Management
Support for institutions with material relating to Jewish history, ensuring collections are conserved, organised and accessible to diverse audiences.
Exhibition Support
Support for institutions to develop exhibitions based on material and collections relating to Jewish history and culture.
Professional Development
Support is available for Europe-based professionals working with Jewish heritage at all levels within an institution.

Individuals can apply for funding to attend conferences, seminars and specialist training courses or take a professional language course which benefits their work.
Institutions can also apply for funding to help strengthen their organisation by seeking outside advice with an expert / consultant visit or undertaking a site visit to another European institution.
Institutions wishing to develop their own professional training programmes should contact the Foundation to discuss their proposal.
These grants are open to applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Please check the Foundation website for submission / decision dates.
