Applications are open for Jewish heritage and culture grants from the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland.
Deadline for submitting applications is 15.00, September 30, 2021.
The grant program was recently named in honor of Jan Jagielski, the pioneer of Jewish heritage documentation in Poland who died earlier this year. For many years he headed the Heritage Documentation Department of the Jewish Historical Institute.

Grants will be awarded in several categories, but they must “comply with the statutory goal of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland, which is to conserve and preserve the memory of the history and culture of Polish Jews and their contribution to world culture.”
. Categories include:
- publications
- commemorations
- conservation projects
- scientific conferences
- research projects
- educational projects
- events popularizing or promoting tolerance
A total of no more than 120,000 zloty (€26,000) will be allocated for all grants.
Applications should be made online — and people who wish to consult with the Association about their projects ahead of submission can sign up for zoom sessions on specific topics.
In April, the Association awarded 26 grants out of 62 applications. Half a dozen of the projects that received grants involved Jewish cemetery work.
