The Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe has opened its Autumn 2021 grant round and welcomes applications for the following programs. The deadline for applications is Friday 10 September 2021, 5pm (BST).
NOTE: Applications are welcome from any organisation or institutions based in Europe, EU and non-EU states alike, except for Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. See the Foundation web site which has detailed information and a FAQ about eligibility and how to apply.
- Archives & Libraries
The Foundation funds projects that ensure that archival and library materials relating to Jewish heritage and culture are made available to a wider audience.
The aim ist to help increase access to documents that will enhance future academic research in European Jewish history and culture and encourage people to engage with communal documentary heritage, whether for educational purposes or personal family research.
The following areas are supported:

- Conservation and Preservation
- Inventories and Cataloguing
- Digital Resource Creation and Digital Humanities
- Professional Training
- Language Grants
Also supported is digitization of material to make these collections accessible to people around the world.

- Museums
The Foundation supports the various ways in which museums preserve, document and display Jewish heritage, and engage diverse audiences.
It supports museums in the areas of:

- collection management
- exhibition support
- professional training
It will prioritize applications that:

- facilitate access to collections
- provide evidence of the presence of a Jewish community in a particular European area
- broaden the range of learning opportunities
- engage diverse visitors
- raise the professional level of museum staff
- increase the museum’s visibility and audience
Preference is given to projects that have a long-term and measurable impact, and that foster exchange and cooperation. All projects must contribute to the preservation, documentation, and public exposure of Jewish heritage.

- Jewish Communal Life (formerly Jewish Education)
This program aims to ensure that Jewish communities are equipped to engage more Jews with Jewish life and learning.
This might include education, leadership development, community engagement and knowledge of local Jewish heritage. We support in the following ways:

- Investing in People: We support professional development projects that enhance the knowledge and skills of the key personnel who lead Jewish learning and communal engagement in their communities.

- Integrating Jewish Heritage: We encourage the use of local heritage resources, including museums and libraries, as an effective tool for creative educational programmes.

- Enhancing the Camp Experience: We support the development of the skills and knowledge of camp leaders as well as the enhancement of Jewish education at camp and helping communities achieve better Jewish educational outcomes.

- Shaping the Future: We support Jewish communities to engage the next generation of activists.

- Gesher L’Europa – an initiative of the National Library of Israel, creating opportunities for people working within Jewish settings to connect with the NLI and engage with its extensive collections, educational resources and online programming. Opportunities to partner with the NLI to help promote its resources and online programming within European Jewish communities are in development stages.
- Yesod Europe invests in the learning, development and connection of Europe’s Jewish community professionals, including Jewish educators, who work daily in service of their communities.
