The ShUM Cities project linking the important medieval Jewish heritage of the German cities of Worms, Speyer, and Mainz has launched a first-time international artist-in-residence program, supported by the state and the three cities.
Up to three project grants will be offered for the realization of an artistic project dealing with the history of the ShUM communities and their religious, cultural and architectural heritage. A public presentation of the completed project is sought (exhibition, concert, reading, performance, etc.). An artistic approach to the ShUM heritage is desired, taking into account the history and present of Judaism and its views.
The deadline for applications is July 1, 2021
During their stay, the artistic ShUM fellows will also be expected to allow interested visitors an insight into their work and concepts in a suitable form, e.g., in workshop discussions. Young people and schools will also be invited, and an exchange of ideas with local artists and cultural institutions is also desirable.
The call for applications is open to professional artists from around the world working in the following areas:

VISUAL AND MEDIA ART
Painting, sculpture, plastic art, drawing, installation, film, video, print, ceramic, textile, performance, photography
