The JW3 Jewish Community Center in London on Dec. 18 hosted a panel discussion on the Holocaust and lost cultural and urban spaces in modern Ukraine. The event was co-sponsored by JW3, the Ukrainian Institute London, and Ukrainian Jewish Encounter.
Speakers were JHE friend Marla Raucher Osborn, CEO at Rohatyn Jewish Heritage, and the literary critic and poet Dr. Iryna Starovoyt, Associate Professor at Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv. The session was moderated by Marina Pesenti, Director of the Ukrainian Institute London.
The discussion touched on many issues — in addition to speaking of her own project, Marla also noted the non-Jewish Ukrainians who are involved with preserving and promoting Jewish heritage in Ukraine. (We have written about a number of such initiatives, including awards given to Jewish heritage activists. Search for Ukraine in our news feed to find more).
