The Vilnius Jewish community advises that the electrical system and roof of the Choral Synagogue in Vilnius are being replaced “thanks to financial aid from the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture and the Lithuanian Cultural Heritage Department.”
Services will be held as usual, but tourists will not be admitted into the synagogue while the repairs are under way, and scaffolding covers part of the facade of the building.
The Moorish-style synagogue, designed by architect Dovydas Rozenhauzas, was inaugurated in September 1903 and is one of only two synagogues still in use as synagogues in Lithuania (the other is the Choral synagogue in Kaunas).
