A collection of essays about Jewish museums, Jewish Peoplehood and Jewish Museums, has been published by the Taube Foundation, the Center for Jewish Peoplehood Education, and the UJA Federation of New York.
Authors include scholars and museum professionals in Poland, Germany, Russia, Israel, and the United States, who write about individual museums in those countries — including the POLIN Museum in Warsaw and Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow; the Jewish Museum in Berlin; Bet Hatfutsot in Israel; the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow; and the Jewish Museum in New York.
They also discuss general issues, such as “peoplehood, identity, nationalism, oppression, and inclusion” as well as “the history, religion, culture, customs, and society of which they are a part [and they] recognize the educational role of the museum and its interpretative responsibility.”

The aim is to “provide a window into the complex arena of Jewish cultural representation and inspire a conversation on the role and impact of Jewish museums as both educational platforms and civilizational engines.”
The 54-page, downloadable PDF is part of a series of publications called “The Peoplehood Papers.”
