For those in Florence, Italy this week — two back-to-back events in the city May 15 present two recent books of interest to our readers. One on Enrico Lattes, an influential Jewish architect and urban planner who was all but forgotten after his death at 29 in 1934, and one on Jewish cemeteries in Italy.
At 18:30 the book Enrico Lattes: L’architetto ritrovato by Daila Sergio Pirro, will be presented at the Nardini Bookstore, via delle Vecchie Carceri.
And at 21:15 there will be a presentation of the book Il cimitero ebraico in Italia: Storia e architettura di uno spazio identitario, by Andrea Morpurgo, at the Sala Servi of the Jewish community of Florence, via Farini 4. Published in 2013, the book, in Italian, provides a history and typology of Jewish cemeteries in Italy.
