According to the Penza News, a major restoration project begun in 2008 at the more than century-old Jewish cemetery in Penza, 625 km southeast of Moscow, is nearing completion.
The project entailed erecting a new gate, clearing refuse and vegetation, restoring and reerecting some 200 gravestones, and readying premises for a caretaker.
According to the article, it was funded by Jewish communal sources as well as the Evangelical church.
