
There are a number of Jewish heritage related exhibits and other events taking place these days, some of them related to International Holocaust Memorial Day, January 27 (on which there are many commemorative and educational events and many countries).

BUCHAREST
Sephardic Bucharest. Exhibition. January 19-27
A photographic exhibit highlighting the Sephardic Jewish presence in Bucharest, curated by Felicia Waldman and Anca Tudorancea. Photos depict synagogues, Jewish communal buildings, private buildings, and shops, etc, as well as personalitiessuch as professionals, doctors, merchants, artisans, doctors, cultural figures, etc.
FLORENCE

The Jews, the Medici, and the Ghetto of Florence. Exhibition, October 24, 2023 to January 28, 2024
The history of the Jewish ghetto of Florence, which existed in the city between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, is an exhibition organized by the Uffizi Galleries and arranged in the Gallery of Modern Art of Pitti Palace. Subdivided into five sections,the exhibition draws from the extraordinary cultural heritage of Florence as well as from important international loans. It reveals a significant and forgotten chapter of the Medici’s political strategy in a centuries-old context of conflicts, diplomacy and cultural exchanges.
VERONA, ITALY
Traces of Memories of the Ghetto. Exhibition, January 12-February 3
An exhibit that documents the urban and architectural experience of the historic ghetto in Verona. It is mounted in connection with Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27.
RADOM, POLAND
“Burning,” an exhibition of paper cuts by Monika Krajewska. January 14-April 30
The exhibit consists of 31 works in which the artist, using traditional Jewish paper-cutting technique. It’s on in Radom following an exhibit at the POLIN museum in Warsaw. We were privileged to host an online exhibition of some of her works in 2020.
GRONINGEN, THE NETHERLANDS (and Online)

Religious Heritage of Minority Communities. Book launch and seminar. January 23.
The Centre for Religion and Heritage of the University of Groningen will host a half-day public symposium to launch the Bloomsbury Handbook of Religion and Heritage in Contemporary Europe. This event will also inaugurate a new European project on minority religious heritage.
NEW YORK CITY
A Sacred Space: Synagogue Architecture and Identity. Exhibition, October 26, 2023 to March 7, 2024.
The exhibit offers an opportunity to view a large selection of rare prints depicting historic synagogues. It traces the history of European synagogue styles from the 17th to the 19th century, exploring how the image of the synagogue was used by Christians and Jews to present often conflicting ideas of Jewish identity. The 42 prints on view—selected from books, art prints, magazines, and newspapers—showcase a wide range of synagogue types.
PARIS
Salonique, Jérusalem des Balkans, 1870-1920. Exhibition, September 19, 2023 to April 21, 2024.
Presenting a selection of nearly 150 pieces from various sources, this photographic exhibition recreates the history of Salonika (today Thessaloniki) Greece from the second half of the 19th century to the end of the First World War.
