Applications for Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe grants for Academic Jewish Studies are now open.
Deadlines are January 10, 2022.
The program aims to “develop rigorous, systematic research and education in academic Jewish studies throughout Europe.”
It provides funding to individual scholars and to university departments “to undertake innovative Jewish Studies research and to train the next generation of scholars.”
Teaching and learning of Jewish languages are also priorities.

- Post-Doctoral Fellowships (Support for institutions to employ a post-doctoral fellow in Jewish Studies)
- Research Consortia (Support for universities to link scholars at different institutions working on shared research projects)
- Jewish Language Teaching Fellowships (Support for institutions to enhance their Jewish Studies programme by offering additional Jewish language classes)
- Academic Language Grants (Foundation-funded scholarships are available for intensive Hebrew and Yiddish courses in Israel)
- Sustainability and Enhancement Grants for Jewish Studies Departments (NOTE: second stage grants only — First stage applications have now closed. Applicants will shortly receive an email letting them know if they have been short-listed.)
