Presentation of the books: “In the Shadow of Empires: Synagogue Architecture in East Central Europe”, by Sergey Kravtsov, with preface by Ilia Rodov (Weimar: Grünberg Verlag, 2018) and “Ukrainian and Jewish Artists of Lemberg/Lwów/Lviv: From Ausgleich to the Holocaust” Sergey R. Kravtsov, Ilia Rodov and Małgorzata Stolarska-Fronia eds. (Weimar: Grünberg Verlag, 2019).
On the first Sunday of each month, there is a guided tour of the synagogue, an imposing domed building designed in predominantly Moorish style by the Swiss architect Jean-Henri Bachofen and built in 1857-59.
This festival features concerts in the synagogues of five towns in western Romania:
The repertoire includes new compositions by the violinist and virtuoso Alexander Bălănescu, who also will perform.
