Destroyed Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands

Can you protect graves when the locations are unknown?
Dozens of Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands appear to have been cleared or even completely disappeared after the Second World War. In 2024-2025, archaeology student Caitlyn Göbel conducted a study on cleared and disappeared Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands. Where in the Netherlands are these locations located and why is it necessary to know that? What happens to these locations today and can we do something about this? On Friday 19 June at 15:00 CET, Göbel tells the story of the vanished Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands. In doing so, she will address the question of whether graves can be protected, if no one knows where they are.
The talk will be in Dutch.
