Dr. Elias Messinas is an architect, urban planner, and writer. He is a graduate of Yale School of Architecture and the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and he holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the National Technical University of Athens. His professional interests and post-doctoral research at the Technion Institute of Technology focus on cultural heritage preservation and digital representation, circular economy and passive climatic design. Dr. Messinas is also the founder of ECOWEEK, a platform dedicated to promoting sustainable and collaborative design, innovation, and public participation practices through conferences and workshops across 18 countries. Since 1993, he has been actively involved in studying, documenting and restoring Synagogues throughout Greece, where he also served as a consultant to the Greek Ministry of Culture for the enrichment of the Archaeological Cadaster of Greece with more than 270 Jewish sites and synagogues throughout Greece.
