SUMMARY:Stockport online Jewish Heritage Trail Launch
DESCRIPTION:Stockport Jewish Heritage Trail is a new free digital trail exploring the history of the town centre’s Jewish communities. \nStockport is a town in northern England\, about 7 miles south of Manchester – famous for its industrial history\, particularly in cotton and hat making. This online launch will highlight several key buildings and sites on the digital trail\, while also explaining how to use it. It will be led by Kevin Bolton\, a Stockport resident and archivist who created the trail. To find out more about the trail\, please visit https://stockportjewishheritagetrail.com or email Kevin at info@stockportjewishheritagetrail.com \nThe Zoom link will be emailed to you nearer the date of the event. \nOnline launch: 20:30 – 21:30 CEST \nClick here to register \nClick here to preview the tour \n

SUMMARY:AEJM Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:The annual conference of the AEJM — Association of European Jewish Museums. \nPOLIN museum\, Warsaw \nThemes include: \nHow can museum professionals respond to developments such as wars in Ukraine\, in Israel and in the Middle East\, hybrid threats\, rising polarization and populism\, geopolitical and economic instability\, climate change\, and demographic decline? Can we remain true to our values while staying connected with our core stakeholders or partners — our audiences\, donors\, witnesses\, researchers and diverse political actors? Are there ways to expand our scope\, open new perspectives\, and engage broader segments of the public? And\, not least\, prepare ourselves and the next generation for the complex realities that are already unfolding? How can Jewish museums narrate the story of our times and remain compassionate and inclusive places of appreciation\, reflection and empowerment?

SUMMARY:Destroyed Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:Can you protect graves when the locations are unknown? \n\nDozens of Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands appear to have been cleared or even completely disappeared after the Second World War. In 2024-2025\, archaeology student Caitlyn Göbel conducted a study on cleared and disappeared Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands. Where in the Netherlands are these locations located and why is it necessary to know that? What happens to these locations today and can we do something about this? On Friday 19 June at 15:00 CET\, Göbel tells the story of the vanished Jewish cemeteries in the Netherlands. In doing so\, she will address the question of whether graves can be protected\, if no one knows where they are. \n\nThe talk will be in Dutch. \nReservations: reserveren@synagogegroningen.nl

SUMMARY:British and Irish Association of Jewish Studies Annual Conference 2026: Space and Place in Jewish Studies
DESCRIPTION:British and Irish Association of Jewish Studies Annual Conference 2026 \nSpace and Place in Jewish Studies \nBirkbeck\, University of London | July 2026 \n“For 2026\, the theme of the BIAJS annual conference is space and place. Since ancient times\, these concepts have been central to Jewish life and thought. Spaces and places can be real or imaginary\, micro or macro\, shared or separated\, boundaried or porous\, safe or hostile: the ark\, the sukkah\, the mikveh\, the genizah\, the kibbutz\, the eruv\, the Temple\, the concentration camp\, the Uganda plan\, Babylonian exile\, the occupied territories\, Eretz Yisrael\, di goldene medine\, Sepharad\, Yiddishland\, the heavens and the underworld… From biblical narratives rooted in specific geographies\, to sacred architecture and urban neighbourhoods\, to diasporic movements and reimagined homelands\, Jews have continually negotiated their relationship to space – physical\, textual\, social\, political\, and symbolic. Spaces and places are not neutral containers for Jewish life; they shape\, reshape and are shaped by Jewish life and practices. How can attention to place and the spatial animate Jewish studies?” \nThe event will be fully in-person in Bloomsbury\, central London\, and will include paper panels\, round tables\, film screenings and walks. Registration options are available for BIAJS members and non-members\, and for one day or full attendance. Refreshments and lunches will be strictly vegetarian\, with the possibility of certified kosher lunches for those who require it. Contact biajspresident@gmail.com with any queries. \n
