Opening of “House of Eternity,” an exhibit of photographs of Jewish cemeteries in central and eastern Europe, taken between 2004 and 2020 by Marcel-Th. and Klaus Jacobs.
Marcel-Th. and Klaus Jacobs created a photographic documentation of meanwhile 64 Jewish cemeteries in Germany, Poland, the Ukraine an the Czech Republic. The Jewish Museum Creglingen presents 40 selected photographies of this collection. Short characteristics explain the local conditions and the backgrounds of the visited cemeteries.
The exhibit will run until November 2, open on Sundays, 2-5 p.m.

Second in a series of illustration Zoom lectures on the architecture and history of synagogues in Eastern Europe, presented by Vladimir Levin, director of the Center for Jewish Art, called Beyond Religion: the History and Architecture of Synagogues in Eastern Europe.
The lecture will discuss the place that women occupied in the synagogue in eastern Europe and the profound changes in their position that took place in the 18th century and in the late 19th century.
The series of three lectures is devoted to the history and architecture of synagogues in eastern Europe, from the 16th and 17th centuries until the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. The talks deal with the synagogue as both an architectural space and a public place, discussing features and functions which are far beyond the narrow realm of religion.
The lectures are a program presented by BEIT AVI CHAI, a Jewish cultural hub in Jerusalem dedicated to the creation, development and expression of Jewish thought and ideas.
The Frankfurth Jewish Museum reopens after being closed for five years for a total revamp of its core exhibit and expansion of its space with a modern new building.
The new core exhibit presents Jewish history, art and culture in Frankfurt, from the time around 1800 to the present day, with a strong focus on the present.
The sixth Jewish cultural heritage conference in Slovakia was supposed to take place in the former Neolog synagogue in Trnava, now used as an art gallery. Instead, it will be an online webinar, with presentations and the announcement of the annual Eugen Bárkány prize for 2020.

Online symposium hosted by the European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative ESJF in which experts on the Jewish heritage of Moldova, along with leaders from the Moldovan Jewish community, will discuss the findings from the ESJF survey pilot project and their implications on the future of Moldova’s Jewish cemeteries.
Working under the framework of the European Commission-funded pilot project, “Protecting the Jewish Cemeteries of Europe”, ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative mapped and surveyed 1,500 Jewish cemeteries across 5 European countries between 2018 and 2020. Prior to this project, there was no comprehensive list of Jewish cemeteries in the Republic of Moldova. However, with the cooperation of the Jewish Community of Moldova and the Moldovan Ministry of Culture, ESJF has compiled the first full catalogue of Jewish cemeteries in the country.
In doing so, ESJF has not only verified the existence of these sites, but has highlighted their vulnerability, with many found to be demolished or at risk. With these findings, laid out in the ESJF Country Report on Moldova (), we can now explore the best avenues for protecting these valuable sites, whether through physical fencing measures, education programmes, or an emphasis on local authority action.

An online panel discussion via Zoom, organized by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles.
Panelists are: Drs. Hatte Blejer, ed a project to clear and restore the Jewish cemetery in Przerosl, Poland; Dan Oren, the founder of The Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland; and Steven Reece, Founder and CEO of The Matzevah Foundation.
