The historic Jewish cemetery in Tarnow, Poland will be ceremonially rededicated after years of extensive restoration work.
The rededication ceremony on June 26 takes places within the context of the two-day Tarnow Jewish Reunion.
Other events include a walking tour of Jewish Tarnow, photography exhibit, Jewish cemetery tour and visit to family graves.

Bringing in a Torah Scroll to the reconstructed Choral Synagogue
The official opening ceremony for a new memorial commemorating the memory of the Jews of Jurbarkas, Lithuania — in Yiddish, Yurburg.
The event will have several parts, including a concert at 2:30 pm by the choral group Aukuras from Klaipėda, at the Apparition of Christ Orthodox church. At 3:30 there will be a look back at the Synagogue Square Memorial Project at the Grybas Museum at Vydūno street no. 31, and at 4:30 there will be a meeting and discussion with the authors and creators of the memorial at the Jurbarkas Regional Public Library at Vilniaus street no. 4.
The municipality approved renaming the junction of Kauno and Kranto streets in the town center – The Synagogue Square.
This square, adjacent to the historical location of Yurburg’s two major Synagogues, was chosen as the site for a memorial dedicated to the Jewish Community of Yurburg. In April 2016, mayor Skirmantas Mockevicius asked Amir Maimon, the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Lithuania, to contact Israeli sculptor David Zundelovitch and his creative group CAN New Artists Collegium with a request to design and create the future memorial, with is a sort of urban land sculpture.

Dedication ceremony of the restored tomb of Hungarian Jewish Olympics hero Alfred Hajos, an architect who also designed the monumental Holocaust memorial in the Kozma utca Jewish cemetery.
Dedication of a memorial at the Jewish cemetery in the village. It is composed of broken gravestones whose fragments have been partially fitted together to form (in part) their stones.
A commemoration of Theodor Schreier, the architect of the synagogue in St. Pölten, will include the unveiling of a commemorative plaque to the architect and his wife — both Holocaust victims who died in the Terezin ghetto/camp north of Prague — and a memorial symphonic concert featuring the music of Brahms, Bloch, Dvorak, Janacek, and Schulhoff.
The synagogue is now the home of the Institut für jüdische Geschichte Österreichs — Institute for Austrian Jewish History.
Marking the 80th anniversary of the destruction of the Great Synagogue in Oswiecim, a memorial park will be dedicated on its site.
The site was long an empty lot, with in recent years signage describing the site.
The park is a project of the Auschwitz Jewish Center and has been supported by the town of Oświęcim as well as institutional and private donors from Poland and elsewhere.
Archaeological excavations in 2004 discovered candlesticks from the synagogue as well as the Eternal Light – Ner Tamid.
The memorial will include a replica of the candelabra (the original is displayed in the AJC’s museum) as well as a structure containing historic photographs of the synagogue.
The tiny rural synagogue in the village of Police u Jemnice, near the border with Austria, will be formally reopened after a two-year restoration carried out by the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic.
The synagogue will house a small exhibition on local Jewish life, and there also will be the launch of the brochure “Rural Synagogues in the Czech Lands,” by Jaroslaw Klenovsky.

The official reopening ceremony of the Great synagogue in Plzen, Czech Republic, following a three-year restoration of the synagogue interior and nearby Rabbi’s house. A permanent exhibition on Jewish monuments in the Pilsen region will be opened, in the women’s gallery. It is based on the photographs of Radovan Kodera.
A procession will bring a Torah scroll from the Old to the Great Synagogue and ceremoniously place it in the ark.
Following will be a ceremonial program with speeches by the Culture Minister, the head of the tiny local Jewish community, and others. A concert will feature compositions inspired by Jewish prayers, adapted for the occasion.
There will be a ceremony to install an information signboard at the Jewish cemetery in Nowogród, Poland.
The signboard was created thanks to the support provided to Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland by the actress Gwyneth Paltrow, a descendant of 19th century Rabbi Hersz Pelterowicz, rabbi of the Nowogród synagogue district.
