Exhibition opening @ Lviv Museum of History of Religion | L'viv | L'vivs'ka oblast | Ukraine
The exhibition will feature 22 ritual items used in synagogues or by Jewish families as well as photos from the collection of Vladimir Rumyantsev and Yaroslav Yanchak, provided by the Center for Urban History of Central and Eastern Europe from its media archive.
 
Among the exhibits are Galician Hanukkah menorahs, a Torah crown, tzedaka boxes, and a post-war velvet parochot with an embroidered inscription dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust
 
Some of the items were kept during 1945–1962 in the Jakub Glanzer Synagogue. They were later confiscated by the Soviet authorities and transferred to the Lviv Historical Museum, and from there to the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion and Atheism (Today – the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion). 
The curator of the exhibition is Maxim Martin, the head of the museum’s Judaism department.

Marcel-Th. and Klaus Jacobs created a photographic documentation of meanwhile 64 Jewish cemeteries in Germany, Poland, the Ukraine an the Czech Republic. The Jewish Museum Creglingen presents 40 selected photographies of this collection. Short characteristics explain the local conditions and the backgrounds of the visited cemeteries.

The exhibit will run until November 2, open on Sundays, 2-5 p.m. or by appointment.

A local theatre organizes a walking tour  of Jewish history and heritage in Gorizia, including the synagogue, former ghetto — and the Jewish cemetery, across the border in Slovenia. Participants will wear headphones and as they walk will hear a dramatized presentation keyed to places they are seeing, which will tell stories of people and their experiences linked to the city’s Jewish history.

Participants must reserve, and they also must wear face masks and follow social distancing measures.

On Sunday, October 25 — there will also be a tour at 10 a.m.
