Launch of the book “In the Footsteps of Jewish Timisoara,” by Getta Neumann.
The Romanian-language guide includes tourist trails, information on history and tradition, as well as about synagogues and the Jewish cemetery, personalities, and more.
Visit the Garnethill synagogue as part of the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival, an annual event celebrating the city’s architecture, culture & heritage through a free programme of open buildings and events taking place over one week in September.
It is Scotland’s first purpose-built Synagogue. As well as continuing to be an active place of worship, the building is the home of the Scottish Jewish Archive Centre and Museum.
The book “Slovak Synagogues on Old Postcards” will be launched in Bratislava.
The book includes more than 270 old postcards of Jewish places of worship.
Opposite each postcard is a brief history of the Jewish community and synagogue of a particular city or village.
The book is written in English and Slovak. Historical settlement names appear in both Hungarian and German.
