Archéologie de la présence juive dans le Comtat Venaissin : la carrière de L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
For French-speakers – a talk by the archeologist Émilie Porcher, about the medieval Jewish quarter of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, one of the four towns in the Comtat Venaissin, or the papal lands where they were permitted to live after being expelled from the Kingdom of France in 1306: Carpentras, Cavaillon, Avignon, and l’Isle sur Sorgue.
The town has a medieval Jewish quarter, remains of the synagogue, and a Jewish cemetery.
