Jewish Heritage Europe

In this section we include the independent state of Moldova, but also the adjacent, unrecognized  Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Transnistria). Both formed the historic area of Bessarabia.

There is an active Jewish community, and Jewish heritage sites in the country have been documented, including synagogues and some 68 Jewish cemeteries.

The material on these pages is for information only; we have striven to make sure all the links are live — let us know if something doesn’t work. We will continue to add more resources over time!
