The XIth conference of the European Association for Jewish Studies will take place in Krakow. The theme of this year’s conference is Searching for Roots of Jewish Traditions.

The Congress is organized by the Institute of Jewish Studies, Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the Alef Foundation and with the support of the the EAJS and other institutions and foundations.

The second annual volunteer camp sponsored by the Lviv Volunteer Center.

Participants will carrying out clean up work at venues such as the former synagogue in Stryi and also take part in cultural and educational initiatives.

Guided tour @ Synagogue Pfaffenhofen

Free guided tours of the Synagogue in Pfaffenhofen, France (Alsace).

Built in 1791, it is a fine example of French Alsatian rural synagogue architecture, with a steep pitched tiled roof and simple interior. It was restored and opened as a Jewish museum in 2000.

OPEN DAY OF THE JEWISH CEMETERY OF ZDUŃSKA WOLA, POLAND.

Meet next to the gate at Kacza Street.

Dr. Menachem Daum (NYC, USA) will say Kaddish next to the mass grave. Prof. Daniel Wagner (Rehovot, Israel) will explain the history of the cemetery and a story of the ongoing work to preserve it. He will guide English speaking visitors.
