s: New Monuments Mark Jewish Cemeteries Across Ukraine — Even in WartimeTh
ere are more than 1\,300 Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine\, most unprotected\,
desecrated\, built over\, or bare plots whose matzevot were uprooted by t
he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera
ting Officer. In this essay\, Kamozin describes the project\, with comment
s also by Milton Koch\, who has been independently organizing a cemetery m

ere are more than 1\,300 Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine\, most unprotected\,
desecrated\, built over\, or bare plots whose matzevot were uprooted by t
he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera

ere are more than 1\,300 Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine\, most unprotected\,
desecrated\, built over\, or bare plots whose matzevot were uprooted by t
he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera

he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera

ere are more than 1\,300 Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine\, most unprotected\,
desecrated\, built over\, or bare plots whose matzevot were uprooted by t
he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera

Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\

ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera

ere are more than 1\,300 Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine\, most unprotected\,
desecrated\, built over\, or bare plots whose matzevot were uprooted by t
he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera
ting Officer. In this essay\, Kamozin describes the project\, with comment

ere are more than 1\,300 Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine\, most unprotected\,
desecrated\, built over\, or bare plots whose matzevot were uprooted by t
he Nazis or under the Soviets. Since 2021\, the United Jewish Community of
Ukraine (UJCU) has run a project to place simple memorials at Jewish ceme
teries all over the country. To date\, more than 120 have been installed\
, many even in the two years since Russia’s invasion sparked the ongoing w
ar. The project is coordinated by Vitalii Kamozin\, the UJCU’s Chief Opera
ting Officer. In this essay\, Kamozin describes the project\, with comment
