Drone video can be overused — but in this case it provides a spectacular view of the recently completed, German-funded restoration of the domed roof of the Ceremonial Hall at the vast Jewish cemetery in Chernivtsi, Ukraine.
The building, dating from 1905, is due to house a Holocaust museum.
The European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative ESJF, which oversaw this first stage of the restoration, which began in May, writes on its Facebook page, that
The renovation consisted of external works including renovating the dome, the windows, external walls and changing the covering to copper.
This part of the renovation was made possible with the financial support of the [German] Auswärtiges Amt and accomplished in cooperation with the Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations (Vaad of Ukraine), who will now complete renovation works on the internal parts of the site and create the Museum of the Holocaust in Bucovina.
