The Museum of the History and Culture of Bukovinian Jews in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, has announced a photography workshop focused on Jewish heritage that will take place in July 2013.
Called “Discovering History through the Camera,” it will be aimed at young people and led by American photographer Sylvia de Swaan. Twelve young photographers will take part.
Mrs. De Swaan is visiting Ukraine realizing a project, which is called “RETURN, a sequel,” which is a second chapter of the series of photographs she made in the 1990s to retrace routes she and her family traveled as refugees from Bukovina at the end of the second World War.
During the time of week-long workshop,
participants will take photos of historical sights in our city stressing the Jewish traces. Afterwards a small temporary exhibition is going to be prepared containing certain works of the participants.
